Salt Lake County has just released a draft general plan to guide development on the west bench and in the Oquirrhs. The plan includes proposed development of the Soldier Flats and Knee Weakener areas in Coon Canyon. This beautiful and unique area of the Oquirrhs has been preserved untouched to this day, and deserves to be protected for generations to come. Salt Lake County will be hearing public comment on the draft plan on Wednesday the 19th at 8:30 am. Please join the meeting through the zoom link below and ask the County to not include any part of Coon Canyon for potential development, and instead work with Rio Tinto, the State of Utah, and other vested parties to plan for long term conservation.

    • Why does every piece of land have to be developed? Leave the Oquirrh’s alone. Develop the lake bed when the great salt lake dries up instead.

  1. Please stop developing the mountain benches. We are ruining the beautiful mountain views with eye sores. Utah is being loved to death. There are plenty of other places to develop.
